Devotion to Dance

Guru Kala S. Naresh learned Bharatanatyam from her Gurus: Kalaimamani, Late Shri S.K. Kamewaran, and Natya Thilakam, late smt. Saroja Kamewaran. She also learned Kuchipudi from Guru Shri Shaiva master. Kala has learned dance from the young age of 4, and dance to her is a lifetime passion. Not only is she a dancer, but she is also received full carnatic music training from her Guru, Late Shri Needamangalam VVV. Subramaniam. Guru Kala’s dance style focuses on the fast nritya and graceful abhinaya complimenting each other. She has choreographed several dance shows and events, and her dance groups have won only 1st place awards during competitions. Her most memorable performance was at the Belgium Consulate in the presence of the Prince of Belgium, and her favorite event she has choreographed for so far is International Yoga Day in Lincoln Center.

Visual Arts Passion

Kala is a double Masters's graduate with a Master's in Fine Arts and a Master's in Business Administration. As an eminent artist in the making, she works on all art mediums, including acrylics, oil painting, mixed media, watercolors, gauche and more. Many of her pieces are displayed in renowned galleries in NJ. Her most recent work, "The Bride," was shown in the Westerhoff Art Gallery in the fall of 2022. Kala takes regular art classes and workshops for all ages, and does many live painting shows for community events in NJ in front of thousands. She enjoys using her artistic skills as a seva (service) to give back to the community in different ways.

A Yogic Journey

Kala Naresh is a 500-hour RYT-trained yoga instructor. She has been teaching yoga both online and in person since 2020. Especially during the pandemic, to many, her classes were an escape from the hard times. 

She teaches Yoga for the Art of Living (Sri Sri School of Yoga) and makes yoga a part of her dance curriculum. She has been conducting yoga and meditation group classes for many online and in-person in NJ, and her students span the globe.
